what is an explanation text?

Explanation text is a text which explain about how and why phenomenon happens.


The general structure of explanation text:

1. General Statement

What you should write in a general statement is an opening statement or sentence. It contains a brief introduction to the subject that will be discussed.


2. Explanation

This part explains the subject in detail and logically. After the opening sentence, the next few paragraphs contain an explanation of the process of how something works or why something happens.


3. Conclusion

A paragraph that contains a conclusion or closure. You can also write a response, impression, opinion, or theoretical view on something that was previously explained in the text.


Purpose of Explanatory Text

1. To provide information to the reader


2. To educate or provide education


Characteristics of Explanatory Text

1. Explanatory text answers how and why questions


2. Has a clear title


3. The first paragraph introduces the subject


4. Has pictures and diagrams with labels for visual learners

  Identification: On a supposedly beautiful beach, this picture depicts a distressing situation due to the presence of a congested landfill. Dense and scattered garbage on the edge of the city. Chicago Park with its overflowing garbage dumps Description 1 (sight): The first glance leads us to the depiction of an overflowing landfill Plastic waste and other debris create a sight that is not only heartbreaking, but also ruins the beauty of the beach. Just looking at it is uncomfortable with garbage overflowing out of the dumpsters. Description 2 (Smell): An unpleasant odor emanates from the piles of garbage. DESCRIPTIVE TEKS : FIELD CONDITION IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL

This government-funded school has a front yard, namely a basketball court which can also be used as a futsal court. Even though it has been used as land for sports, there is a policy where some of the land that is not covered by the field area is used as parking for teachers' vehicles. The sports area which is crowded with parking lots and school rubbish dumps creates an unpleasant feeling in the heart, because the unpleasant smell from the dump and the lack of freedom to exercise because there are teachers' vehicles makes field users wary. The first glance when entering the front field area, has been greeted with the presence of teachers' or instructors' vehicles parked around the field. The cleanliness of the field area is very well maintained from leaves and plastic waste, but not from unused furniture such as cabinets that are left unattended. Sports facilities on the field already need to be repaired such as, goal posts that have started to rust. Trees from outside...
